Why is Everyone so Surprised?

Kris Allen won season 8 of American Idol: SHOCKER!!  Not Really.  I could have told you that weeks ago, and I had no doubt in my mind he would win when Danny was eliminated last week.  Therefore, I am obviously much smarter than everyone else in America for the following reasons:

1.  Everyone loves an underdog (he wouldnt have even been that big of an underdog if Adam Lambert hadn’t received royalty treatment from the judges week after week).

2.  Open your eyes people, Kris appeals to a much broader audience than gay emo people!

3.  Loyalty of my fellow Arkansans. (ok, Im not really an Arkansan but my drivers license says I am so lets just pretend)  Anyone who has been to a Razorback game knows that anything exciting that happens in Arkansas captures the attention of the entire state.  I heard 38 million of the 100 votes came from Arkansas; and that only includes 479, 501 or 870 area codes.  If you factor in all of the out of state students like myself voting in Arkansas the number goes up even more.  Oh, and every single AOII chapter in the nation had Kris’ vote in support of AOII alum Mrs. Kris Allen.  You have to admire that kind of loyalty.

So when you look at it from my perspective it doesn’t come as such a huge shocker.  Just proves how much the judges sway everyone’s opinion.   This is truly what finding undiscovered talent is all about.  

Carpenter Returns for Cubs Series

Injury-prone Chris Carpenter will return to the Cardinals’ pitching rotation Wednesday against Chicago after straining his left rib cage.  

I’m excited and optimistic about Carpenter’s return; anyone who knows me knows that I’m pretty much obsessed with him.  I would go to games in 2005 and not get up the whole game because I wouldn’t want to miss either the Cards batting or Carp pitching. One time during batting practice I leaned over the dugout, yelled “Carpenter, I love you!” and he gave me a thumbs up! haha

After  three pitiful and embarrassing series against the Reds, Pirates and Brewers, I find myself on my knees praying as I type this that Carpenter will return to his 2005 pitching style.  And for the love of God Carpenter, my love, DONT swing the bat and get hurt again.  Just strike out looking.

Suri Cruise at Idol

Katie Holmes and Suri Cruise were at Tuesday night’s taping of American Idol.  Cameras caught Suri covering her ears during Adam Lambert’s performance.  Aww poor Sur, I feel your pain. 

Kardashian Store Vandalized

Kourtney Kardashian posted on her blog this morning that their Miami Dash store had been vandalized the with graffiti two days before the store’s grand opening.  Kourt insists that the location of Dash has been a secret and that her and her sister’s were not targeted.

So what do you guys think?  Publicity stunt to promote the stores grand opening perhaps??  Kourtney has tweeted several times today how “horrible” the vandalism was, and included the link to her blog where she writes:

“We are all really sad that our brand new Miami Dash store that we’ve been working so hard on got graffiti’d, but Kim, Khloe and I are all fine and we wont let a little thing like this ruin our launch party tomorrow! And what’s life without a little drama, anyway, right!?”

LOL look at that “horrible” vandalism.  I mean they’re gonna need a couple gallons of paint to cover that right??

NEW MOON Poster out!!!!

Ryan Seacrest revealed the debut of the New Moon poster on his website this morning.  I think its funny that Bella is clinging on to Jacob…let the drama begin!!  I honestly wish they would skip New Moon and start filming Eclipse but I suppose they have to go in order  Can’t wait to see the trailer!

PR Tips on Journchat

I just discovered Journchat, a Monday night PR discussion group  on twitter!  I’ve learned a lot from what PR professionals have posted.  

Here are some tips I will definitely take into account:

A PR person is part salesman, part strategic marketer, and part glorified secretary.

Credibility can usually be reduced to integrity. Clients, media and prospects quickly recognize the ring of truth.

Personal integrity and reputation for reliability, credibility and respecting the needs of journalists supersedes accreditation

Keep the hype to a minimum. Unrestrained superlatives can make the most newsworthy item sound fishy

Absolutely quality over quantity for pitches.

 If you are forced to pitch crap, don’t “fake personalize”.

A Handwritten letter is the ultimate follow up. Lost art, but does not have to be.

Reputation follows you everywhere. APR may get you in the door, but a bad reputation will keep you out.

Spencer’s Proposal

On tonight’s episode of The Hills, Spencer will propose to Heidi. Again.  Her response to his proposal: “With this ring yes! I mean this makes up for a lot.”

Aww isn’t that just precious? “This makes up for a lot” – Wow I cant think of a more romantic reason to propose to someone! (negative).  Too bad he can only propose once, now he’s going to have to come up with more creative ways to make up for being an a-hole.  No one believes this show is real anymore anyway, and personally, I find Spencer and Heidi’s hunger for media attention quite irritating.  Therefore, I am choosing to watch the premire of The Bachellorette instead, so unfortunately I won’t know what happens in the rest of the episode.  Regardless, this clip is sure to be on The Soup.  Can’t wait to hear what Joel has to say about this one.

Obama’s dog vs. Biden’s

Ok heres something blog-worthy.  Joe Biden recently insulted President Obama’s dog to a group of fifth-graders saying:

“I kid the president, my dog’s smarter than Bo, his dog. Yeah I do. I think he is.”

WOW.  If this isn’t newsworthy information, I dont know what is.  Seriously, is this crap really on the news??  Sounds like a Paris Hilton vs. Nicole Richie feud I would read about in US weekly.  Last I checked Obama and Biden are the President and VP, not the Royal Family.  NO ONE CARES about their dogs, or Obama’s NCAA bracket, or what Michelle wore grocery shopping.  I’m sick of the media’s love-affair with the Obamas.  If I have to read headlines such as, “Omama drinks Miller Light at Nationals game” for the next 8 years I am going to scream. Lets stick to coverage about what they are doing to better our country.  K thanks.
